My Commitment as a Funeral or Memorial Celebrant

Arranging a funeral can be a daunting task - I am here to help to create and conduct a service which honours the deceased and gives comfort to those left behind.   A good, personal funeral is an important step in the grief process and on the path to being at peace with your loss.

  • I recognise the social, cultural and moral significance of the funeral service in the Australian community which is underpinned by the importance of strong and respectful family relationships.
  • I put the needs of the family above all other considerations.
  • I will visit the family in order to discuss their needs and to plan the service.
  • I will compose a funeral service using information and guidance from the family, being sensitive to any differing wishes and respecting these to the best of my ability.
  • I will endeavour in every way to prepare and conduct a funeral service which meets their needs and expectations.
  • I will ensure that my personal appearance is in keeping with the dignity of the occasion.
  • I will arrive at the service venue at least 20 minutes prior to the beginning of the service.
  • I maintain a high standard of service in my professional conduct and practice.
  • I act in an ethical manner at all times and respect the privacy and confidentiality of all parties.
  • I ensure accuracy in the preparation of documents.
  • I provide a keepsake copy of the service to the family.
  • I welcome feedback from the parties
  • I am foundation member (2007)  and Secretary of FCAA, Funeral Celebrants Association Australia Incorporated, an association dedicated to maintaining a high standard of funeral celebrancy in Australia
  • I am a member of AFCC, Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants & the AMC, Australian Marriage Celebrants
